Let's Get Physical
First Zero Audience
Tonight, not a single person showed up to see my show.
My very first cancellation at Fringe 2026. I am mentally prepared that it won’t be my last.
I wonder if it’s because of the new tagline, How Much Of Gender Is Performance?
Is it too vague and overly intellectual?
I only went with the change because Miss Ratt liked it. But how could I have trusted her artistic judgment, given her past verdicts?
She actually thought Crash deserved the 2006 Oscar win over Brokeback Mountain!
Perhaps the no-show tonight is for the best, as I was already feeling nauseous doing makeup. But it sure reminds me of last year. Spending two hours on makeup and then having no one to perform for is a very real and shared experience at the Fringe.
Did potential audience members lose interest because of this hasty change I made to the tagline? Because I had good audience turnouts until I made the change — and I only made the change because a reviewer told me her fellows reviewers wouldn’t review my show because of my old tagline.
But the new tagline now seems to me… overly-intellectual, without really telling you what the show is about.
I think I need to change name of show again.
